The Team Relay ... what is it?
How:
In a word, ATTACK! We have tuned the event to provide opportunities for teams to lap the field and encourage dynamic racing. The winning team will complete 100 laps of a .6 mi oval track. Teams can have up to 4 racers and you can "pit" in/out to rotate on any lap. We will likely be using the course below ( http://www.strava.com/segments/7260941 ). Everyone finishes on the winners lap.
Omnium Scoring:
Omnium racers need to complete a minimum of 4 laps. You are scored off your team's result just like the TTT.
If your team finishs a lap(s) down from the winning team you will be assessed a time penalty for laps not completed. This time penalty will be roughly the time for a lap, I would expect around 1:45'ish.
How to Pit transition?
Last year we did a rolling transition. This year that may change to a full stop next to the rider coming in. We will give a full explanation at the event. In either case there is a jersey barrier wall that parallels the straight away. Your team can setup a tent on the non course side of the barrier. You should be able to easily lift your bike over the barrier to stage for a pit transition. If lifting your bike over the barrier is an issue we can easily have you enter around the western end.
